FUNERAL OF MISS SARAH GEDNY.


The funeral took place at Eye Cemetery on Monday afternoon of Miss Sarah Jane GEDNY, of Vine Cottage, Eye, only daughter of the late Mr Henry GEDNY, J.P., of the Laurels, Eye. The deceased lady was a prominent church worker, being a district visitor, a member of the Eye Ladies' Sick Visiting Committee, a Committee Lady of the Eye Nursing Society, and a member of the Eye Parochial Church Council. She was of a kind and genial disposition, and her loss will be felt by a wide circle of friends. The Rev. D. PUGH officiated. The mourners were Mr R. GEDNY (brother), Miss J. COCKERILL, Mr N. B. GARRARD, Dr. H. E. BARNES, and Mr H. A. GEDNY. Others present included: Miss M. E. SHORT, J.P. (Mayor of Eye), Mr and Mrs F. SAUNDERS, Miss Norah SAUNDERS, Mr and Mrs E. C. READ, Mrs MARTIN, Mr E. A. ONYON, Mr A. C. BILHAM, Mr H. WARNES, Mr C. JEFFRIES, Mr and Mrs James POOLEY, Miss FRENCH, Miss May RUMP, Mr Walter BETTS, Miss ROWLING, Mrs S. ROSE, Miss FAIRWEATHER, Miss Rachel THOMPSON, Mrs FARTHING (Oakley), Mrs A. PRESTON and Mrs TAYLOR (Worlingworth), Mrs Percy READ (Hoxne), and others. The deceased died in the Surrey Street Nursing Home, Norwich, on Wednesday in last week. The grave was lined with evergreens and chrysanthemums and there were a number of beautiful floral tributes.
