THE LATE MR. B. O. GEDNY.

There was a large attendance at the funeral on Wednesday, of Mr. Benjamin Oswald GEDNY for many years deceased was one of the best known agriculturists in the neighbourhood, having resided in Oakley over a half century. He was one of the few surviving tenants who farmed on the estate of the late Lady BATEMAN of Brome. Mr. GEDNY was 85 years of age, and retired from farming about 10 years ago. For 44 years he had served the parish as Church warden. He passed away last Saturday after a brief illness. One son is Councillor H. A. GEDNY of Eye.

The service was held at the parish Church the Rev. W. N. LONG, of Newton FLOTMAN, a former Rector of the parish, officiating, assisted by the Rev. C. F. Cory ELVIN (Rector). The hymns “Thy way, not mine, O Lord.” and “God moves in a mysterious way.” were sung, Miss SAMS presiding at the organ.

The family mourners were Mrs. GEDNY (widow), Mrs. G. CARR (Earl Soham), Miss L. GEDNY (Birmingham), Mrs. H. FARTHING (Bocking, Braintree), Miss K. GEDNY (Isle of Wight), daughters, Mr. Horace GEDNY (Codenham), Mr. Herbert GEDNY (Balsham), Mr. Harry GEDNY (sons), Mrs. Horace GEDNY, Mrs. Harry GEDNEY (daughters-in-law), Mr. Fred GEDNY (Harleston), Mr. Charles GEDNY (Cambridge), brothers, Mrs. L. JOHNSON (granddaughter). Also present were Mr. and Mrs. C. A. WEST, Mr. E. H. REYNOLDS (Hoxne), Mr. Harold WARNES (Eye), Mr. R. A. BOBBY (representing Messrs. Henry BOBBY and Sons, Diss), Mr. T. B. HALL (Hoxne), Mr. E. W. WELLS (Brome), Mr. and Mrs. PEEK, Mrs. F. MANN, Miss TACON, Mr. PETTITT, Mr. G. SAUNDERS, Miss A. WILDING, Mr. R. BUTLER, Mrs. CRAWFORD, Miss FARTHING, Mrs. SAMS, Mrs. LIPSCOMB, Mrs. COTTON, Miss MARKWELL, Mrs. C. FISHER, Mrs. L. FISHER, Mrs. A. NEEVE, Mrs. W. FLATT, jun., Mrs BALWIN, Mr. CROWTHER, Mrs. WARD, Miss GIRLING and many others. The grave was tastefully lined with daffodils and greenery. The bearers were Messrs. W. SALTER (deceased's employee), C. COTTON, W. BROWN, S. MOWLE sen., S. MOWLE jun., and G. CRAWFORD. There were many beautiful floral tributes.
