Apprentice Indenture - Isaiah MALE 23 Aug 1798

This Indenture, made the Twenty third Day of August in the Thirty Eight Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third by the Grace of God of Great-Britain, France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and fo forth; and in the Year of our Lord One thoufand feven hundred and 98. Witneffeth That Henry Pittard and William Drayton Church-Wardens of the Parifh of Barrington in the said County of Somerset - And Thomas Rofsiter and Henry Pittard Overfeers of the Poor of the faid Parifh, by and with the confent of his Majefty's Juftices of the Peace for the faid County whofe Names are herunto fubfcibed, have put and placed, and by thefe Prefents do put and place Isaiah Male aged seven years or thereabouts, a poor Child of the faid Parifh, Apprentice to John Pittard of Barrington aforesaid yeoman in respect of ? John Lodgor?? Estate which he occupies in the said parish of Barrington with him to dwell and ferve from the Day of the Date of thefe Prefents, until the faid Apprentice fhall accomplifh his full Age of Twenty one years according to the Statute in that Cafe made and provided: During all which Term the faid Apprentice his faid Master faithfully fhall ferve in all lawful Bufinefs, according to his Power, Wit, and Ability; and honeftly, orderly, and obediently, in all things demean and behave himfelf towards his faid Master and all his during the faid Term. And the faid John Pittard for himself, his Executors and Adminiftrators doth Covenant and Grant to and with the faid Church-Wardens and Overfeers, and every of them, their and every of their Executors and Adminiftrators, and their and every of their Succeffors, for the Time being, by thefe Prefents, That the faid John Pittard the faid Apprentice in Husbandry affairs fhall and will teach, and infturct, or caufe to be taught and inftucted in the beft way and manner that he can. And fhall and will during all the Term aforefaid, find, provide, and allow unto the faid Apprentice, meet, competent, and fufficient Meat, Drink, and Apparel, Lodging, Wafhing, and all other Things, neceffary and fit for an Apprentice. (Provided always, That the faid laft metioned Covenant on the faid John Pittard - fhall happen to die during the Continuance of fuch Apprenticeship, according to the Provifions of an act paffed in the Thirty-fecond Year of the Reign of King George the Third, intiuled, "An Act for the further Refulation of the Parifh Apprentice,") And alfo fhall and will fo provide for the faid Apprentice, that he be not any way a Charge to the faid Parifh, or Parifhioners of the fame: but of and from all Charge fhall and will fave the faid Parifh and Parifhioners harmlefs and indemnified during the faid Term.
In witnefs whereof, the Parties abovefaid to thefe prefent Indentures interchangeably have put their Hands and Seals, the Day and Year above-written.

We whofe Names are here under-written, Juftices of the Peace for the County aforefaid, (wherof one is of the Quorum) Do confent to the putting forth the said Isaiah MALE an Appentice, according to the Intent and Meaning of the above Indenture.
