To the Churchwardens and
others, the Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of
WHEREAS Complaint has been
made by you the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Barrington aforesaid, unto us, whose
Hands and Seals are hereunto set, two of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace,
in and for the County of Somerset aforesaid, (whereof one is of the Quorum,)
that Hugh MALE Mary Ann his wife and
Rebecca about seven years old Amelia about five years old and Simeon about one
year and a quarter old their children lately intruded themselves into your said parish of Barrington there to inhabit as Parishioners contrary to the Laws relating to the Settlement of the Poor; and are become chargeable to your said
Parish of Barrington
We therefore upon due Examination
and Enquiry made into the Premises aforesaid, and on oath of the said Hugh MALE this Day taken before us in Writing
or otherwise, do find and adjudge the same to be true: And we do also adjudge
that the last place of the legal settlement of them the said Hugh MALE Mary
Ann his wife and Rebecca Amelia and Simeon their children was and is the
parish of Curry Rivell
aforesaid.
These are therefore in his
Majesty's name, to order and require you the Churchwardens and Overseers of the
poor of the Parish of Barrington
aforesaid, that you, some, or one of you, do forthwith remove and convey them the said Hugh MALE Mary Ann his wife and Rebecca Amelia and Simeon their
children from your said parish of Barrington
to the Parish of Curry Rivell aforesaid, and them deliver to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor or some
or one of them there, together with this our order, or a true copy thereof.
AND you the Churchwardens
and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Curry
Rivell aforesaid, are likewise hereby required in
his Majesty's name, to receive and provide for them the said Hugh MALE Mary
Ann his wife and Rebecca Amelia and Simeon their children as Inhabitants of your said Parish of Curry Rivell
until from thence they shall be
discharged by due course of law. Given
under our Hands and Seals, the twenty seventh
day of August in the ninth Year of the Reign of our
Sovereign lord GEORGE the fourth, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of
Great Britain and
