To the Churchwardens and others, the Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Shepton Beauchamp in the County aforesaid to convey: And to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Kingsbury Episcopi in the county aforesaid to receive and obey. These.

WHEREAS Complaint has been made by you the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Shepton Beauchamp aforesaid, unto us, whose Hands and Seals are hereunto set, two of her Majesty's Justices of the Peace, in and for the County of Somerset aforesaid, (whereof one is of the Quorum,) that Elizabeth HALLETT singlewoman lately intruded herself into your said parish of Shepton Beauchamp there to inhabit as a Parishioner contrary to the Laws relating to the Settlement of the Poor; and is become chargeable to your said Parish of Shepton Beauchamp

We therefore upon due examination and Enquiry made into the Premises aforesaid, and on oath of the said Elizabeth HALLETT this day taken before us in writing or otherwise, do find and adjudge the same to be true: And we do also adjudge that the last place of the legal settlement of her the said Elizabeth HALLETT was and is the parish of Kingsbury Episcopi aforesaid.

These are therefore in her Majesty's name, to order and require you the Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of the Parish of Shepton Beauchamp aforesaid, that you, some, or one of you, do forthwith remove and convey her the said Elizabeth HALLETT from your said parish of Shepton Beauchamp to the Parish of Kingsbury Episcopi aforesaid, and her deliver to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor or some or one of them there, together with this our order, or a true copy thereof.

AND you the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Kingsbury Episcopi aforesaid, are likewise hereby required in his Majesty's name, to receive and provide for her the said Elizabeth HALLETT as an Inhabitant of your said Parish of Kingsbury Episcopi until from thence she shall be discharged by due course of law.  Given under our Hands and Seals, the 20th? day of March in the Second Year of the Reign of our Sovereign lord WILLIAM the Forth, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith and in the Year of our Lord one thousand, eight hundred and thirty two.

The examination of Elizabeth HALLETT of the parish of Shepton Beauchamp in the said county singlewoman taken this 20th (or 28th) day of March

 

Who upon her oath saith that she is an unmarried woman bid with child likely to be born a Bastard and she is about 24 years old and was born in the parish of South Petherton in the said county as she has heard and believes that at lady day three years ago she hired herself with Mr (or W.) DRAYTON at Lake in the parish of Kingsbury Episcopi for a year and served out the years, and bargained for a second years, and remained under the second hiring in the service for three months only and she has not since hired herself as a yearly
