To the Churchwardens and others, the Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Seavington St Mary in the County aforesaid to convey: And to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Drayton in the county aforesaid to receive and obey. These.

WHEREAS Complaint has been made by you the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Seavington St Mary aforesaid, unto us, whose Hands and Seals are hereunto set, two of her Majesty's Justices of the Peace, in and for the County of Somerset aforesaid, (whereof one is of the Quorum,) that Malachi MALE and Mary his wife lately intruded themselves into your said parish of Seavington St Mary there to inhabit as Parishioners contrary to the Laws relating to the Settlement of the Poor; and are become chargeable to your said Parish of Seavington Saint Mary

We therefore upon due examination and Enquiry made into the Premises aforesaid, and on oath of the said Malachi MALE this day taken before us in writing or otherwise, do find and adjudge the same to be true: And we do also adjudge that the last place of the legal settlement of them the said Malachi MALE and Mary his wife was and is the parish of Drayton aforesaid.

These are therefore in her Majesty's name, to order and require you the Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of the Parish of Seavington St Mary aforesaid, that you, some, or one of you, do forthwith remove and convey them the said Malachi MALE and Mary his wife from your said parish of Seavington St Mary to the Parish of Drayton aforesaid, and there deliver to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor or some or one of them there, together with this our order, or a true copy thereof.

AND you the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Drayton aforesaid, are likewise hereby required in his Majesty's name, to receive and provide for them the said Malachi MALE and Mary his wife as Inhabitants of your said Parish of Drayton until from thence they shall be discharged by due course of law. Given under our Hands and Seals, the 29th day of February in the Second Year of the Reign of our Sovereign lord WILLIAM the Forth, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith and in the Year of our Lord one thousand, eight hundred and thirty two.

The examination of Malachi MALE of Seavington St Mary labourer taken the 29th of February 1832 louching? His place of settlement


Who saith that he is about 53 years old and was born as he has heard in the parish of Barrington, that when informant was eighteen years of age he hired himself for a year with Mr WHEELER of Drayton at the yearly wages of three pounds at the expiration of the year he made bargain for another year at £4 per annum and lived six months under the second agreement when he left him and returned home to his father at Barrington since which time he has been working for different persons as a weekly Labourer that he married his present wife Mary about thirty years ago at Seavington St Mary that himself and wife are both chargeable to Seavington St Mary
