County of Somerset

The examination of Moses MALE now residing in the parish of Barrington in the said county Taylor taken on oath before William SPEKE Clerk and John HANNING Esquires??? of his Majesty’s Justices of the Peace of and for the said County this fifteenth day of December 1787.

Who on his oath saith that he was born in the said parish of Barrington as he hath heard and believes that he is about thirty two years of age as he believes.  That when he was about sixteen years of age his mother bound him an apprentice by Indenture which was signed by this Examinant to Thomas HOW of Somerton for the term of seven years to learn the trade of a Taylor and that he served the said Thomas HOW under the said indenture in Somerton aforesaid during the said term of seven years and from thence went to work as a Journeyman in Bristol from whence he was imprefsed into his Majesty’s Service and was put on board one of his Majesty’s ships and continued there about four years. When he returned to Barrington aforesaid and has worked there ever since at his trade.  That about twelve months ago he intermarried with Jane his present wife by whom he hath one child Jacob aged about half a year.  That he hath done no other act whereby to gain a settlement than as about set forth.

Moses MALE bap 06 Jul 1755 Barrington (son of Jacob MALE and Joan BROWN) married Jane PAULL on the 25 Sep 1786 at Barrington.

Their son Jacob MALE was bap. 12 Aug 1787 Barrington
