Application for Bounty Land
Elizabeth [Richardson Spiller] Wood, widow of Jeremiah Spiller
05 April 1852

On this fifth day of April A. D. one thousand eight hundred and fifty-two, personally appeared before me a Justice of the Peace, within and for the Parish and State aforesaid Mrs. Elizabeth Wood, aged forty-eight years, a resident of Perry County in the State of Illinois, who being duly sworn according to law, declares that she is the widow of Jeremiah Spiller deceased who was a private in the Company commanded by Captain Gough, in the division commanded by General Morgan, (the name and commander of the regiment not recollected) in the war with Great Britain declared by the United States on the 18th day of June 1812. That her said husband was drafted at St. Helena Parish on or about the first day of October A. D. 1814 for the term of six months, and was honourably discharged at Fort St. John near New Orleans some time in the month of March A. D. 1815.

She further states that she was married to the said Jeremiah Spiller in the Parish of St. Helena on the seventh day of May A. D. 1820 by one Z. Tucker, a minister and that her name before said marriage was Elizabeth Richardson and her said husband died in the Parish of Livingston, La. on the thirty first day of August A. D. 1835.

And she further states that she was again married to one David Wood in the Parish of Livingston, La. on the nineteenth day of December A. D. ... and that her name before her marriage with said Wood was Elizabeth Spiller (her maiden name being Elizabeth Richardson) and that her said husband Wood died at Liberty in he State of Illinois on the sixteenth day of February A. D. 1850, and further that she is now a widow.

She makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the bounty land to which she may be entitled under the pact passed September 18th 1850.
