Sale of Land
Elihu T. Murray & Wife [Delilah Richardson]
to William W. Perkins and Jared Fernum
05 December 1834

Be it known and Remembered that on this fifth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and thirty four,

Before me Thomas Kennedy, Parish Judge and Ex officio Notary Public in and for the State and Parish aforesaid, Personally came and appeared Mr. Elihu T. Murray of the State and Parish aforesaid, and Mrs. Delilah Richardson, wife of the said E. T. Murray and by him duly authorised and assisted in this capacity to act; who both declared that for and in consideration of the sum of Three hundred Dollars in payments as hereinafter set fourth [sic], they do bargain, sell, convey, assign, set over and deliver unto William W. Perkins and Jerimiah Fernum of the Parish of St. Tammany and State aforesaid (Mr. William W. Perkins being here present and accepting this sale for himself and for Jerimiah Fernum.)

A certain or parcel of land situate lying and being in the Parish of Livingston on the East of Ponchatoulas River containing One hundred and Two acres, bounded south by the lands of Richard Wade - West by Robert Parmer [sic] - North by Samuel Richardson and East the Cane tract of land. Being the said tract purchased by said E. T. Murray from Absolom Wolve and the late residence of said E. T. Murray.

To have and to hold the above described tract of land with all the improvements; Privileges and appertanences thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto them the said Perkins and Fernam. To them, their heirs and assigns, to their proper use and behoof, forever;

The said vendors hereby binding themselves and their heirs to warrant and defend unto the said Purchasers the titles and Claims of the above described tract of Land to them their heirs and assigns forever. And the said Delilah Richardson, wife of the said E. T. Murray does declare that she has been advised and is well acquainted with the privileges and claims she has by law on the property, of her said husband for the restitution of all her dower brought into Marriage - Whether Dotal, paraphernal or otherwise and Notwithstanding she does declare that she persists in her determination to �Renounce� all the claims Mortgages & Privileges that she now has or may in future acquire on the above described property, and does hereby bind herself and her heirs at all times to ratify acknowledge and sustain the validity of the above describe sale to the said purchasers.

This sale being made for the sum of Three hundred dollars payable in three payments in Notes drawn by William Perkins and Jared Fernam to the order of Warner and McCartha? and Endorsed by them - To wit:

One Note payable in four months from the 15th of December A. D. 1834. One Eight months and one in Twelve months from said date of One hundred Dollars each - which said Notes the said vendor Mr. E. T. Murray does accept in payment for the above described sale - and agreeable to the Certificate of the recorder of mortgages of the Parish of Livingston, bearing date the 13th of December A. D. 1834, it appears there is no mortgages or other Liens on the above described and bargained property.

This instrument the pages being numbered the same will be read accordingly from one to four.

This done and passed in the Parish of Livingston said State in presence of Burlin Childress and Gastin T. Raoul Witnesses who have signed the same with the parties and me, the said Judge and Notary this day and date first above written.
