Hosea R. Murray to E. T. Murray
08 May 1841Be it Known and Remembered, that on this fourth day of May in the year of our Lord, one thousand Eight hundred and forty one and in the year of the Independence of the United States of America the Sixty fifth,
Before me Gastin [sic] T. Raoul, Notary Public, duly commissioned and sworn in and for the Parish aforesaid, dwelling in the town of Springfield, personally came and appeared Mr. Hosea R. Murray an inhabitant of said Parish who did declare and say that for the consideration hereinafter expressed he does by these presents grant, bargain sell convey, transfer, assign and set over, with a full guarantee against all troubles, debts, mortgages claims, evictions, donations, alienates, or other incumbrances whatsoever, unto Mr. E. T. Murray, also an inhabitant of the same Parish who is here preset accepting and purchasing for himself his heirs and assigns, and acknowledging delivery and possession thereof a certain tract or parcel of Land situate lying and being in the aforesaid Parish of Livingston on the waters of the River Tangipahoa, bounded above and in he rear on said River by Land so Moses Moore, below by Lands of Briggs, containing one hundred and sixty superficial acres, together with all and singular the privileges & Improvements to the same belonging or in any wise pertaining which said property descended to the present Vendor by purchase from Jesse Hogan, & said Hogan from the Government of the United States.
To have and to hold, the said property unto the said purchaser his heirs and assigns, to their proper use and behoof forever; and the said vendor for himself his heirs & assigns the said Land t said purchaser his heirs and assigns, shall an will warrant and forever defend against the lawful claims of all persons whomsoever by these presents; the said vendor moreover subrogating the said purchaser to all the rights and actions of warranty which he has or may have against his own vendor or he vendors of his vendor - hereby authorising the said purchaser to exercise the sad right and actions in the same manner as he might or could have done.
This sale is made for and in consideration of the sum of One hundred dollars cash in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged before the signing of this act.
It appears by the certificate of the Recorder of Mortgages the production of which certificate is hereby dispensed with and me Notary released from liability to damaged resulting from the passage of this act without the same.
Thus done and passed at my office in the town of Springfield, the day, month and year first above written, in the presence of J. J. Watts, and G. B. Facundus witnesses of lawful age, and domiciliated in this Parish, who have hereunto signed their names, together with said appearers and me said Notary.
