Act of Sale
James Richardson to George Richardson
22 February 1844

Be it Known and Remembered that on the Twenty second day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and forty four and in the sixty eighth year of the Independence of the United States.

Before me, Jacob J Watts, Judge of the Parish of Livingston, in the aforesaid State, and duly authorised by law to exercise the powers of Notary Public therein, duly commissioned and sworn.

Personally came and appeared Mr. James Richardson, a citizen of the Parish of Livingston in the said State of Louisiana, who did declare, and say, that on the 21st day of August 1843, he acquired by public act passed before the Honorable Jacob J. Watts, Judge of the Parish of Livingston, in Company with Edmond B. Richardson, his brother, certain property, therein named, from their father George Richardson & for the use and purposes therein specified;

Now the said appearer being unable to comply with the conditions of the said sale on his part, & desirous of reconveying his interest in & to the property mentioned in the before recited act to his said father George Richardson, & forever cancelling the said sale as far as he is concern; & does hereby reconvey his interest in & to said property to the said George Richardson, with a full guaranty [sic];

Then to this act personally came and appeared Mr. George Richardson, also a citizen of the Parish of Livingston, in this state, who declared that he does accept the said sale reconveying the said property to this said appearer, & does hereby consent that the said sale shall be canceled and annulled and that the said property so far as it relates to the said James Richardson, shall revert to this appearer & remain in his own his name as though the said sale, before mentioned, has never been passed, and by virtue of this act releases the said James Richardson from any and all obligations of whatsoever nature expressed in the said act.

Thus done and passed at my office in the town of Springfield, the day, month and year first above written in the presence of Theodore Gillespie & R. K. Felder, witnesses of lawful age and domiciliated in this Parish, who have hereto signed their names together with said appearers and me, said Judge.
