Mrs. Mary Ann [Scaggs] Wade to August T. McNiell
October 4th 1833

Know all men by these presents, that on this fourth day of October, in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and thirty three,

Before me, Thos. Kennedy, Parish Judge, and Ex officio Notary Public, for the Parish and State aforesaid, Personally came Mrs. Mary Wade of the Parish aforesaid, By her husband Richard Wade duly authorised in this capacity to act - that In order to perfect a sale made on the fourteenth day of November 1831,

By Richard Wade to A. T. McNielle, of a certain tract of land lying in said Parish, on the East side of Natalbany River, about two miles from the town of Springfield, containing Six hundred and forty acres, being Section [blank] Township [blank] Range [blank], which said tract of land, the said Richard Wade, having recieved [sic] the sum of Two hundred dollars, and acknowledged by him. the said Wade, by authentic act, as above stated, which sum, the said Mary Wade have [sic] been mutually benefited by -

And Mary Wade, authorised by her husband, as aforesaid, declared that she does by these presents, Renounce all claims, privileges, and Mortgages, which she now has, or had at the time of the sale from R. Wade to A. T. McNiell. And the said Mary Wade further declared that she is fully acquainted with the nature of her claims and Privileges on the Property of her said husband, in Virtue of the Laws of the state of Louisiana, yet notwithstanding, she does still persist in her intention to ratify the aforesaid Sale to A. T. McNielle, and does hereby Renounce in his favor all the rights, claims, privileges, & Mortgages, that she does possess on the aforesaid tract of Land, In favor of Augus T. McNeill, his heirs, and assigns forever.

In testimony whereof, the Parties have, hereunto, set their hands, in Presence of Thomas Turnage and William Hadin, witnesses who have hereunto set their names as witnesses, and me, the said Judge and Notary, this day and date above written, and Mrs. Mary Ann Wade, not being able to sign her name, has made her ordinary mark in presence of the above witnesses.
