know that I am willing for you to grant
licence [sic] to William Durbin and my daughter
Rebecca, Feb. 16, 1828.

To the Honorable Burlin Childress, Parish Judge [in] and of the parish of St. Helena, State of Louisiana. The petition of William Durbin, of said parish, respectfully represents that it is his intention to enter into a matrimonial connexion [sic] with Rebecca Richardson, daughter of Samuel Richardson of said Parish, that he has rec'd the free consent of the said Samuel Richardson to their union, and that there exists no legal impediment to prevent their marriage. Wherefore, petitioner prays your honor may grant him Licence [sic] to that effect, directed to some minister of the gospel or Justice of the peace, authorized by Law to celebrate the said marriage ceremony between them, and your petitioner will ever pray.

D. 1828, that Zelotes Tucker, a Justice of the Peace, In and for the Parish of St. Helena and State of Louisiana did Celebrate Marriage between William Durbin and Rebecca Richardson, Daughter of Mr. Samuel Richardson, all of the Parish of St. Helena.

Given under our hands this 28th Day of February 1828.
