Landowski, Marcel, 84, a French composer and conductor who from 1970 to 1974 was the French Ministry of Culture's first director of music, dance, and the lyrical arts, died Thursday in Paris.  Often called "Mr. Music," he pioneered a revival of music teaching in French schools.
