On either side of the above engraving is a memorial wall with the names of the children corresponding to the numbered grave markers.
Near the turn of the last century our grandfather and three siblings were placed in the care of the Wisconsin Child Center. Their father (our great-grand father) was a Civil War veteran living at the veterans home in Waupaca. When great-grandmother became ill the only alternative she had was to place their four youngest children in the care of the children's center. Eventually our grandfather and his siblings went on to live with other families and lead productive lives.
