Marriages:  The Acadian Recorder reports these in a limited manner, but they originate throughout the Province.  Often the dates found in this section and the Deaths section contain two references of inst. (or instant) and ult. (or ultimo).  These refer to the month in which the date occured. Inst. or instant means the date is in the current month. Ult. or ultimo means the date given is in the previous month.

Deaths:  Again these originate throughout the Province, and sometimes are International.

Ship News:  The news typically lists ship arrivals and departures, usually by giving ship name, master, and home port or last port sailed from.  Sometimes there are also passengers lists, information of wrecks etc which are reported under this section as well. If you see the symbol  "&.c" in the texts,  this was the old form of "etc".

Estate Notices:  These were advertisements placed when someone died announcing that claims against and owed to the estate had to be settled within a certain time period.  This section is a compliment to the Deaths section as an additional source. This section will be done once every few months. Since they often ran the same ad for 2 years, the list usually stays the same for a long period of time.  Sources here are not only the name of the deceased, but also those who administered the estate, usually other family members.  The complete text is not done.  This is just a list containing estate owner, administrator(s) and the date the original notice was placed (if available).

Advertisers:  Again this section is a list of names, with type of business and location if available.  Real estate sales will also
appear in this section, whether private or public/sherrif auction.  This section and the next are not being included yet, but will be eventually added in.

Sunday August 3 arr.: brig Alligator, Coulson - Antigua 15 days cargo rum and sugar &c to Mr. M. Richardson;  sch. Mary-Ann, Mulock - Canso;  sch. Elizabeth, Walker - Boston;   sch. Lahogue, Trask - Boston;  sch. Good Intent, Hilsey - Tobago 18 days cargo rum and sugar &c. to Mr. John Clark.

Monday August 4 arr.:  brig Kate, Tyne - Barbadoes 22 days cargo rum, sugar &c to Messrs J. & M. Tobin.

Tuesday August 5 arr.:  sch. Chart, M'Dougall - St. Johns N.F. passengers Maj. King and family.

Wednesday August 6 arr.:  brig Eliza, Gardner - Barbadoes;  sch. Garry-Owen, Cleary - Burin, N.F.;  sch. Harriet, Edwards - Boston;  sch. Catharine, Ward - Boston;  sch. Two Sisters, Hopkins - Liverpool N.S.; sloop Peggy, Reardon - St. Johns N.F. 21 days; brig Idas, Aldridge from London and Bermuda - Passengers Maj. St. Clair and son, Rev. Mr. Wright, Mrs Brace, Mrs Wells, Mrs Davis, Mr. R. Lloyd and Mr. James Turner.

Thursday August 7 arr.:  brig Thomas, Winn - Bermuda 8 days;  brig Elizabeth, Campbell - Grenada 16 days - The E. laeft at Grenada brig Sally, Kirby from N.F., brig Elizabeth from Cape Breton, and a schooner from Halifax belonging to Mr. Pryor - H.M. ship Hydra was momently expected at Grenada with the left wing of the 2d or Queens Regiment from Barbados when the E. sailed.

Saturday August 9 arr.:  brig Lucretia 5 days from Portland to Mr. Jesse Woodward.

Cleared:  brigs Grace, Stroughton - Miramichie;  Pallas, Booth - Liverpool Eng.;  Amicus, Gibbons - Cork;  Nancy, Kirk - Boston with 131 passengers; Schrs Hope, M'Donald - N.F.;  Countess Dalhousie, Cocken - New York;  Consolation, Thompson - New York;  Lord Wellington - Gaspe.

From Boston:  July 26 sch. Concord, Long of Yarmouth 30 days from Grenada arr. at Quarantine this day. The U.S. brig Boxer has driven a Mexican privateer on shore near the Balize. A valuable Spanish prize brig has arr. at Amelia Island. The Perserverance of Halifax has cleared at Norfolk for Grenada. Brig Sophia & Sarah from Halifax has arr. at New York . . . July 29 the cargoes of sch. Sarah-Jane from Halifax and brig Placid from N.F. were advertised for sale at Grenada July 5.... Aug. 1 sch. Roseway, M'Donald 16 days from Halifax has just arrived with a great number of passengers - The Admiral Griffith with a cargo of lumber &c. has not yet cleared out altho ready.

The sch. Jacob & Benjamin, Tooker from Antigua 13 days arrived at Yarmouth the 24th ult.
The sch. Critic, Jeffreys from hence arrived at St. Johns N.F. July 16.
The brig Maria of Liverpool and schrs Diligence and Thistle of Yarmouth N.S. were left by the Alligator at Antigua on the 16th ult.
