Noticed your website on the Schneider's, and thought I'd put my two-cents in. I am researching the Schneiders also, my great-grandfather Haver (sometimes spelled Xavier) Schneider married Amelia Brede in 1861; he died around 1868. They had two childred; Henry and Anna -- Henry was my grandfather. They lived in areas of Carlyle and Mascoutah, IL. Do any of these names ring a bell? Thanks. Colleen

I am looking for a Adam Schneider, b. about 1800-1805 from the France/German border in about 1832. He had at least 1 son-Joseph, who was born around this border in about 1832-1836. Joseph and Adam immigrated and was naturalized in about 1850-1865. Joseph's wife was Barbara Pieffer. They had 11 children, but only half of these children made it to adulthood. All children were: Julia, Joseph (my gr gr grandfather), Fredrick, Nicklas, Albert, Mary, Elizabeth, Laney, Sophina, Clara, and Ason. All these children were born in Clearfield Co. PA from about 1850-1869. I have been trying to find Adam and his wife, name, unknown. Maybe Eva???
I have been trying to find where around this border of France/Germany Adam and his family were from. I have run upon a snag. I would sure appreciate any info you might have. Joseph and Barbara had a son, Joseph who had a family in Kylertown, Clearfield Co. PA, and another one in Camas Swale, Lane Co. OR. I am from the Oregon family. I know that Joseph Jr. had 2 sons, born about 1879-1885 in Clearfield Co. PA, named Edward and Frank. I am looking for these families also in hopes that they could provide me with any info. I am happy to share what I have. I do have a big notebook full of info on this family.

My 4 grandchildren were born Eugene, Lane Co. OR
I have been trying to find my gr gr grandfathers parents for many years. I am not sure if I am related to you. Some of the Snyders (originally Schneider-German) settled in Washington state. Maybe they came from Canada before???
Thank you so much for allowing me to be your guest!!
Good Luck, and I hope someday I will find that we are related!

Somehow I feel our ancestors could be related back in Prussia. They were from Bereborn which is about 19KM west of Kehrig. Bereborn is not on must maps but it is located between Kelberg and Mannebach. Their parish was Retterath and the Retterath Family Book has been posted on the internet by a school teacher living in Daun. If you are interested, please contact me.

Very nice site - the background looks very familiar. I have correspondence written by my grandmother in MO and her mother in Germany. My grandfather's name was Frederick William Schneider (originally Schachtschneider) and grandmother's name was Anna Krescenc Holtzinger, both coming from Germany in the 1880s. They lived in St. Joseph, MO. I'm not able to go back any farther. Dory

We are probably not related. My family has a Volgadeutch
lineage that goes back to 1764. I am looking for links in Garman before that time. The only information I have from Germany is that we were from the Black Forest region.

Just getting a late start in life at trying to trace the Schneider clan that I belong to.... There are only three of us left out of 14. One older and one younger. I have numerous nieces and nephews that would like this information... I doubt if we are connected to your clan...My fathers name was Charles and his father was Ambrose. I have very little to go on. I'm sure my father was born in Oil City, Pa. 1889. My grandparents had Charles,Vincent, Joseph, Henry, Thomas, Charlotte, Catherine, Veronica, Mary(Ada), Virginia.

I found your web site while searching the web. My great-great grandfather's name was Peter Schneider. He was born in Weisbach, Germany in 1823. His father's name was Nicolai Schneider and his mother's name was Catharina Schwerz. That is as far back as I have been able to trace. Does any of this sound familiar?

Sincerely,

Pattie Fowler

Thank, thank you for your excellent work!
My mother, Mary Ann Hansen, is a Schneider decendent from Joseph A. Schneider who raised his family in Wilmette, Illinois.
The other side (Hansen) of my heritage comes from Niederfeulen, Luxembourg. As you note, I have been in very close touch with that side. The Grand Duke of Luxembourg has given me the honor to represent his country in Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin. As such I am an American as Head of Post and a member of the diplomatic service, a very rewarding and most interesting adventure for me. Of course it is also hard work.
I have always been interested in the other half, but the family always seems to be able to search back only so far. Your web site was sent to me by email from a cousin and I am very grateful.
Thank you again. Merci u. Danke recht herzlich.

I am from the Schneiders (with a "s")family line that came from Orsoy, Germany. How does one find family history in Germany? I have done a lot of researching in the Netherlands on other family lines, but I have not tackled Germany yet. Is there a web site that would help me get a start in researching famiy history in Germany?
