In 1784, George Morris was appointed Guardian to Gebas Perkins (Wilkes Co., NC, Will Bk 1, p.123). In 1789, Jabish Perkins was administrator of William Sperry, dec'd. (Wilkes Co., NC, Will Bk 1, p. 254). Inventory of the Estate of William Sperry is in Wilkes Co., NC Will Bk 1, p. 262 dated 1789. In 1784, Wm. Smith was the Administrator of W. Sperry (Wilkes Co., NC Will Bk 1, p. 122).

probated February Term, 1836.
I Jabus Perkins of the County of Whitley and State of Kentucky being sick
and low in boddy but of Sound Mind and disposing memory and Calling to mind the
mortality of man and knowing that it is appointed for all men to die I make and
ordain this my last will and testament in the followung manner,
To wit, first of all I will my sole to God that gave it and my body to be
buried in a decent and Christian like maner and Touching on my Worldly Estate
which it hath pleased God to bles me with I dispose of in the maner following,

In the Name of God, Amen. I William Campbell of the County of Whitley in
the State of Kentucky being weak in body but of common exercise of mind &
calling to mind the uncertainty of this life & the certainty of death & wishing
to dispose of such things as it pleased God to Bless me with, First of all I
give my Soal to God who gave it & my body to be Buryed in Christian like
manner.
Secondly I wish all my just debts & funeral expenses if any be paid out
of my goods and chattles.
Thirdly I leave my ----- all my personal property together with my house
hold kitchen furniture to my beloved wife Elizabeth Campbell during her natural
life or widow hood. Then I want my land equally divided between my two sons
Jarvis & William Campbell.
Should my daughter Ninny live to ever be married I wish her to have in
property in proportion to the other girls.
Then should my beloved wife find herself able to spare any of the
property belonging to place she is at liberty to ---- -- ------ the children as
seams good in her sight.
All my goods & chattles house hold & cicken furniture of every
description at the death of my beloved wife I wish equally divided amongst all
my children.

16. Timothy[5] Perkins (Joseph, 24) (A16). Born in New Haven, New Haven Co., CT. Died, during or after 1782. Baptism: 27 June 1736, in New Haven, New haven Co., CT (New Haven First Cong. Church Records, 1:38). Occupation: farmer-loyalist.
In 1784, George Morris was appointed Guardian to Gebas Perkins, (Wilkes Co., NC Will Bk 1, p. 123) this would indicate that Timothy Perkins was dead. Dow Perkins wrote that Timothy lived into the 1830's in Grayson Co., Virginia and that he married (2) Ann Sturgill and had one daughter, Lydia. At this time, this writer knows of no documentation that supports that statement.
Timothy and his brother, Joseph, may have been privates in Capt. Benjamin Perkins' Company of Col. John Phillips' Regiment, Jackson's Creek Militia, Camden District SC. This unit served under Lord Rawdon during June and July, 1781. They may have served under Capt. Joseph McDaniel in Capt. Thomas Pearson's Regiment, Little River Militia, Ninety Six Brigade, for 34 days, sometime between 6 May and 5 August, 1782 (Murtie June Clark, LOYALISTS IN THE SOUTHERN CAMPAIGN OF THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR, vol.1, pp. 164,168,313).

I, James Campbell, of the State and County, aforesaid, being sick but of
sound mind and disposing memory, and wishing to dispose of my Worldly Estate,
I, this day my Will is this, that my son William Campbell shall have thirty
acres of my land beginning at my upper course where my land and Maj. -----
Williams land Course on one tree there ----- Williams line to the other Corner
so as to include the thirty acres as wide at one end as it is at the other end.

memory, thanks be given to God for the same but calling to mind my own
mortality and being apprehensive that my departure is near at hand by reason of
my Advanced Age & my sd weakness of body & knowing it is appointed for man once
to die, I do make this my last Will & Testamt, in the manner following,
first all I do humbly recommend my Soul unto God who gave it hoping in
his mercy thro the merits of Jesus Christ his dear and only Son both for pardon
& accptance and my body I commit to the ground in Christian Burial at the

Third Son namely to my Son Abel Sperry and do give unto him the Sum of ten
pounds out of Some part of my Estate at the appraisal of it
And wher as my Second namely Wm Sperry and two of my Daughters Namely
Merriam Perkins the wife of Timothy Perkins & namely Lois Sperry has made a
remove to North Carolina contrary to my desire I do give unto each of them if
ever they return the sum of five shillings.
And I do give unto the heirs of my Eldest daughter who was the Wife of
David Bradley of North Haven who is dec'd the sum of five shillings to be
divided amongst them
And I do give unto my Daughter Mary the first born of my twins the Sum of
two pounds out of my Estate at the Appraisement --
And I do give unto my Daughter Thankfull the second born twin who is the

Nash Co., was formed in 1777 from Edgecombe Co.

health, and p'fect understanding and memory Calling to mind the transitory
estate of men in this World and not Knowing how soone God may Call me away by
death Doe so cause to make and ordaine this my last will and testament in manor
and forme following, committing my Soule to God yt gave it and my body to the
earth to be decently buryed according to the Discresion of my Executor and

Discharged my will is as to ye Dispose of ye portion of worldly estate wich ye

Imprimis: I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Dennis Sperry all my

Many believe he was born, 1607, in Hilmorton, Warwickshire, Eng.? Recent (1998) work by Paula Perkins Mortensen indicates he was a son of William Perkins, Merchant-Taylor of London. Edward died, circa 1688, in New Haven, New Haven Col, CT (Between 25 January 1687, date of deeds to sons, and recordation date of 19 March 1690). Immigration: 1637, in New Haven, New Haven Colony, CT. Occupation: planter-farmer.
He took the Oath of Fidelity 18 October 1648. New Haven Colony records show the following land transactions: 7 Nov 1654, he received 5 acres from Richard Hubball (v.1, p.226); 3 July 1655, he received the house and lott of Thomas Barnes, which was Stephen Metcalfes (v.1, p. 245); 7 Jan 1667/8, he receives land from Nathaniel Richards and Rosamond, his wife, of Norwalke (v.2, 213).
The estate of Edward Perkins was appraised at L306 in the 1680 division of land in the City of New Haven, with Edward receiving 77 acres in the division.

All three of these deeds were recorded on 19 November 1690. It is presumed that Edward died between 25 January 1687/88 and 19 November 1690. There are only two other deeds from Edward Perkins recorded in the extant New Haven Register of Deeds. These are to John Perkins, vol. 1, p. 82, and to Joseph Moss, vol. 1, p. 273. In none of the deeds is a wife mentioned. It is therefore presumed that she was dead before 1672.
There is no reference to his estate in either the New Haven Probate Packets or the New Haven Probate Records.
