These are the descendants of Stefan Gräber. Stefan lived in Baden, Germany. His son Lewis Joseph Gräber (later changed to Craver) came to the United States in 1832. I know little of his home place in Germany. He settled in Carroll Township, Cambria County, Pennsylvania. Why he picked that section of the United States and moreover Pennsylvania is left to speculation. What we do know is that he raised two hotel proprietors, numerous farmers, and a carpenter. No one was of nobility or great means but family stories passed on indicate that a cousin somewhere in the family line invented the hook mechanism that allow train cars to be joined. But alas, as the story goes, the train company (probably Pennsylvania Rail Road) claimed rights to it because the cousin had at one time worked for them.
