William ALMY, perhaps also known as ALMEY, ALMIE, and ALMOND only son (11) of Christopher ALMY,Christopher gentleman, of South Kilworth, England (4), born ca 1600 (4,8,11) or 1601 (2,3,5,12,fg), Belinden Parish, County Kent, England (3) or Dunton Basset (4,8,11) or South Kilworth, Leicestershire England (4,11), died 1676/7 (1,2,5,12) or 28 Feb 1676 (3), Portsmouth, Newport Co, RI (1,2,3,11,fg), will dated 28 Feb 1676/7 proved 23 April 1677 (2,3,5,11,12) or 25 April (6),
... Notes: Said to have come to America with Winthrop (2,3,8,12) about 1629 (3) or 1630 (8) and settled with other Leicestershire men in 1631 at Saugus MA (4,11). Was also at Lynn, MA (1,2,3,12), came perhaps as early as 1631 (1,2,12) where his name appears on town records 14 June 1631 (3,5), and again 1 (5) or 31 (3) July 1634 (3,5) when he may have been in England (3). He went home and presented papers to the church 13 June 1635 (3) and returned again 1635 in the Abigail (1,2,3,4,5,8,9,11,12) with Capt. Robert Hackwell (3,12) with wife (1,2,3,5,9) and 2 children (1,3,5,9). Removed, probably to Sandwich 1637 (1,3,4,9) where he and nine others were given liberty 3 Apr 1637 (5,12) to look for a place to settle. He was granted land (2) amounting to eight and one half acres on 16 April 1640 (3,5) which was sold to Edmund FREEMAN 1642 (2,5,11,12) on 22 June 1642 (3,5,11,12) Was gone from Sandwich by 7 Dec. 1641 (5,11). He moved to Portsmouth, Rhode Island (2,4,12), about 1641 (3,4) where he was granted land on 14 Nov. (5,11) 1644 (2,5,11,12) at the Wading River (3,5) and where he was freeman in 1655 (1,3,5,9,11,12). He sold eight acres of his holdings to Richard Bulgar 5 Jan 1656 (3,5). He was a member of the Society of Friends (2,12).

.......... Elizabeth CORNELL (3,5,10,11), dau of Thomas Cornell and Rebecca (5,10,11,fg). She died 12 (4) or 30 (10) Jan 1712/3 (10) or 1714/5 in 72nd, 73rd or 78th year (4). He was freeman of Portsmouth 1658 (3,5) was in Shrewsbury, NJ 22 June 1676 (4) and bought property in 1667 (5) at Monmouth NJ (3,5) and on 5 March 1680 (5) at Pocasset (Tiverton) (3,5). Will dated 4 Sept 1708 with codicil dated 11 Sept, proved 9 Feb 1713 (5).
