..Notes:
Thomas COOLEY lost both his parents as a teenager. In 1850, he and sister Nancy were living with the Washington Robertson family in Jasper Co., MO (14a). I am told that a couple of Rush/Rusk cousins had gone to the gold fields in California. One returned very well to do. The other one stayed in California. That is probably why the young Thomas went to California.
