.... Margaret McCANN; born ca 1802 Dublin, Ireland; died 8 March 1852 Cleveland, Ohio
Lived Cumberland, Ontario Canada then removed to Whithall, NY about 1837. Other stories indicate that they were in Minnesota or Iowa by 1834 but this seems unlikely. Removed to Cleveland, Ohio before 1850 (census). Removed to Minnesota after 1852 and possibly to Wisconsin before 1860. Reportedly left Wisconsin in covered wagon 1860 (no census record found) and apparently went to California then Oregon and finally to Kelso , Cowlitz Co., Washington by 1870 where Nathaniel is listed as age 68, born Wisconsin living with Ira Conger and family (p 64, res 64)

WA (record not found);; married 14 May 1860 Muscoda, Grant Co. WI (record not found in county or in state records), .... Frances Rosetta/Right SNOOK; born 15 Feb 1841 Marion, Linn Co., IA (record not found); died 6 Feb 1922 Kelso, Cowlitz Co. Washington (obit Kelsonian and Portland Telegram, DC in Olympia), interred Catlin Cem, Kelso, WA, dau of J. or Stephen SNOOK born Germany and Elizabeth (DOYLE) also born Germany.
..... They are reported to have left in a covered wagon for California immediately after the wedding, apparently with his father and other relatives (no 1860 census record found). They stopped a while in Fort Laramie where Nathan operated a stage station. They then continued to California and were in Susanville in June 1864. They reached Cowlitz Co. before 30 Jan 1865 when Nathan was a sureter on a bond for John McHarry in connection with probate for H. I. Congdon (Probate book A, p 24-26) and is listed as an election judge or inspector for the Castle Rock Precinct (Commissioners Journal May 14 1866 from Cowlitz Co. Hist. Quarterly 19(1):23). By 1870 the family is in The Dalles, Wasco Co., OR (census) and by 1880 are in Portland OR (census). He is reported to have returned to the farm in Cowlitz Co. in 1888 where he died.

Apparently Beatrice ORTON, born 16 March 1891 Portland, OR, died 30 Mar 1970 age 91(?), Salem, Marion Co., WA (Oregon Death Records ODR), married 30 May 1912, Stevenson WA, William (KOONTZ) WARD, son of Adrian KOONTZ (1869) and Lottie (BAKER) (1872), born 11 June 1891 (ODR), Portland, OR, died 6 Sept 1985 Clackamas Co., OR (ODR). They had a child Charlotte Catherine KOONTZ, born 23 June 1913, Alberta, Canada, who married 29 Dec 1946, Long Beach, CA, Roy C. SCHWOCHOW (WHITE)? Mabel ORTON may have married a Percy Wilson. Genevieve ORTON may be the one who died 28 May 1960, Portland OR (ODR) wife of William who is probably the William R. Muir, born Nov 1893, died 25 Mar 1974 Multnomah Co., OR (ODR)
