Who We Are:
On April 11, 1893, a meeting was held by some of
the sons and grandsons of veterans of the Texas Revolution at Richmond,
Texas, to organize a society to be composed of male descendents of
veterans of the Texas Republic. The first chapter was then formed known
as the Deaf Smith Chapter.
On April 19th the Richmond Sons of the Republic
went to Houston and April 20th, 1893, a state organization of the Sons
of the Republic of Texas was perfected.
Since April 20th, 1893, many new chapters have been
formed all across the state. Membership is open to male descendants of
persons who were citizens of the Republic of Texas before February, 1846.
The pledge of allegiance to the Texas state flag:
"Honor the Texas flag; I
pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one and indivisible."
