Grandparents Milo FOLLIS born 1890 in Delphos, Van Wert County, Ohio to 1944 Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana and Elizabeth SCHNEIDER born 1890 in Massillon, Stark County, Ohio to 1932 Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana. They were married in the Most Precious Blood Catholic Church. Elizabeth's SCHNEIDER family was Catholic, FOLLIS' were most likely Protestants or Methodist like the Timmons, with Church of the Brethren the previous generation from the EIKENBERRY families. When Milo died his son Frank was in New Guinea and Louis was in the Hawaiian Islands serving during World War II. This left the mostly minor children orphans who had already spent some time in the Catholic St. Vincent Villa Orphanage after mother Elizabeth died in 1932. Both are buried in the Catholic Cemetery Fort Wayne, Indiana.

3rd great-grandparents were Jacob FALLIS born between 1798-1800 in Virginia to 1824 Greene County, Ohio. The tombstone for Jacob FALLIS in the FALLIS Pioneer Cemetery has an age of only 17 years making Jacob 13 when his first son was born. Most likely the age is wrong, he was actually 27 years old, in 1818 married his wife Hannah KINGERY born 1801 in Virginia to Bellbrook, Greene County, Ohio to 1858 Somerset, Wabash County, Indiana. Hannah remarried in 1832 to Ginnethon KELLEY, then moved to Miami County and Wabash County, Indiana. Hannah and Ginnethon KELLEY are buried in Mississinewa Memorial Cemetery with her FOLLIS grandchildren, daughter-in-law Catherine EIKENBERRY, near Catherine's parents and sister Lucy KINGERY WHITENECK's family.

4th great-grandparents were Isaac FALLIS born 1779 in Shenandoah County, Virginia to Lincoln County, Kentucky to 1858 Bellbrook, Greene County, Ohio and Mercy VAUGHAN born 1774 probably Virginia to Lincoln County, Kentucky to 1834 Bellbrook, Greene County, Ohio. Married October 10, 1797 in Shenandoah County, Virginia. Both are buried with Jacob in the FALLIS Pioneer Cemetery on their 160 acre pioneer farm east of Dayton, Ohio just across the county line. Notice in map below that Vaughn Summit is south of and Vaughn Summit Road is just to the west of Jacob Fallis' land in Shenandoah (now Page) County, Virginia. Have to assume it is connected with Mercy Vaughan's family thought to be from Culpepper County next county southeast. October 10, 1797 Isaac FALLICE chose Benjamin WOOD as his guardian in the Shenandoah County, Virginia Minute Book 1795-1798. This confirms Isaac was an 18 year old minor when his father Jacob died.

5th great-grandparents were Jacob FOLLIS born after 1742 perhaps in New Jersey to Frederick, Stafford, then 1797 Shenandoah now Page County, Virginia and Sarah SPRINGER about 1746 daughter of Isaac SPRINGER of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to 1809 Shenandoah County, Virginia. Jacob Fallis of Stafford found a horse and posted a notice in the March 14, 1777 Virginia Gazette newspaper of Williamsburg, Virginia, now known as Colonial Williamsburg. In a 1778 deed in Dunmore County, now Shenandoah County, Virginia, Jacob Follis (yes "o") of Stafford bought his 354 acres of land on both sides of Jeremy's Run next to Nehemiah Wood, the father-in-law of Jacob's daughter Sarah married to Benjamin Wood.

6th great-grandparents were Thomas FOLLIS born before 1710 probably Ireland or Wales to New Jersey to 1755-1756 Frederick County, Virginia and Elizabeth of Frederick County, Virginia now Berkeley County, West Virginia. Elizabeth was the name of his wife in his 1755-1756 will. It is possible Elizabeth was a second wife and a first wife may have been Jane CHELDON. No confirming information has been found, not even the name Cheldon, but many Sheldon's are found. Montana Samuel FALLIS supplied Jane CHELDON's name. Johanna FALLIS believes Montana, an architect in Denver, Colorado in the late 1800's, was very detailed and would not make mistakes as described in my FOLLIS Information page.

The SHELDON Family Association had no information on anyone named CHELDON several years ago when I met their secretary who lives here in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Their web site lists over 70,000 names and they still have no information. Most Ancestry.com searches find Elizabeth Jane CHELDON as the wife of Thomas Richard FALLIS. William Stuart FALLIS in his Partial Record of the FALLIS Family Record in America, essentially our Fallis bible, pointed out Richard was a mistake, but it continues to be repeated decades later, which shows why you should document your sources and not repeat information without valid sources.

Thomas Follis' land is found in the Northern Neck Land Grants at the Library of Virginia online. Page 400 September 1, 1753 242 acres where he lived adjoining John Ridgway and William Duckworth, on the drains of Opeckon Page 457 July 2, 1754 255 acres where he lives on a branch of Mill Creek a branch of Opeckon. Page 458 July 3, 1754 301 acres adjoining Colo. Morgan Morgan and George Hobson’s patent land near a branch of Mill.

Son George Folles August 25, 1766 deed for 55 acres on drains of Mill Creek

Thomas' parents names and Thomas' arrival to North America so far is undocumented although some researchers give a date of 1698 for the immigrant FOLLIS. If you find any documentation please letEmailme.

Ireland

On Irish Genealogy the "Irish Government supported, official web site, dedicated to helping you in your search for records of family history for past generations" has a record for the burial of a Catherin Fallis June 24, 1689 in Dublin, Ireland at the St. Catherine Church. This shows Fallis' were at least in Dublin at the right time to support our Irish tradition!

Follis DNA Testing

I had my yDNA tested in 2009 and match a Follis in Dublin, Ireland whose ancestry is also Scots-Irish which supports our Scots-Irish Follis family tradition. I request any FALLIS FOLLIS to have a male in your Fallis Follis line test their yDNA to see where you match with the 4 Follis lines found so far. My Scots-Irish line, an Anglo-Norman line, an Italian line, and an unassigned Follis line. Female mtDNA only verifies a match within the last 10 generations, but new Autosomal DNA research is starting to make closer better matches.
