Recent research by Gerry Simmons showed Benjamin Foreman's wife was indeed Mary Vandiver and not Nancy Parke as other Foreman researchers had presumed. This is shown in the book Portrait and Biographical Album of DeWitt and Piatt Counties, Illinois. Chicago: Chapman Brothers Publishing Company, 1891 in the Carmi Goodrich biography page 719 husband of Margaret Foreman, granddaughter of Benjamin and Mary Vandiver Foreman that lists grandmother Mary Vandavere. It is also proven by father William Vandiver's 1805 will.

5th great-grandparents William VanDIVER about 1720 to 1805 and Elizabeth LEWIS bought around 1,000 acres of land in different transactions. 800 acres in lot 4, one is the Patterson Creek Mano November 12, 1771 529 acres of land in Early Land Grants and Settlers Along Patterson Creek note # 2 which is now in West Virginia. There don't appear to be any good maps of the location of lot 4 in the 9,000 acres of the Patterson Creek Manor granted to Lord Fairfax. The 1810 Federal Census shows they were slave owners as an Elizabeth VanDIVER over 45 has 9 slaves. The Minute Book Abstracts 1817 also show a mallato child bound to son William Vandiver.
