There are some pages that don't have really important info, so to save time and space I will not transcribe them. Lastly, these are not in chronological order, what ever order they were sent to me is they order they are put here.

And I further certify that my husband was always troubled with chronic diarrhea and Rheumatism from the time we were married up to the time of his death. Also that he told me he contracted the same in the service. But when and at what place I do not know. I further declare that neither of us were ever married but once and that was as is set forth in my Declaration for Pensions. Also, I further state that the said Joseph S Shamp never served either in the military or naval services of the U.S. either before or after his said service in Co. G. 16th O.V.I. I further state that there is no record proof of marriage, but I have my marriage certificate. I furnish as proof eye witnesses. My husband left me absolutely no property at his death and I have always had to work for others to support myself and children. I further declare that I have not remarried since the death of the said Joseph S Shamp but remain his widow. The reason I never applied for pension before is because my husband was not a pensioner and I was told by those that - I supposed knew - that I was not entitled to pension on that account. After our marriage myself and husband lived in the following places and for the length of time at each place as follows - East Windsor, Eaton Co. Sir:
In the above entitled claim for pension, the claimant failed to state whether any person is legally bound to provide for her support. This requirement should be complied with.
The post office address of Mary E Burger, affiant should be furnished.
The evidence filed is not decreed sufficient to show the date, place and cause of soldier’s death. Jesse M Shamp says soldier died July 11, 1883, as shown by family record. His statement fails to show his personal knowledge of the date, place and cause of death. George Williams states that he was one of the pall bearers at soldiers funeral, but he does not give the date or other facts. Mrs. Bert Artcliff says soldier died in hospital at Ft Wayne, Ind July 11, 1883, but she fails to state her means of knowledge. George Simpson’s affidavit’s same as Mrs.
Page 29_2
Artcliff’s. Claimant states in affidavit that soldier died at St. Joseph Hospital, Ft. Wayne, Ind. July 11, 1883, of rheumatism of the heart, but she fails to state her means of knowledge. The records of the hospital fail to show that Joseph S Shamp was a patient or that he died there, as alleged.
The date, place and cause of soldiers death should be shown by competent evidence. All witnesses should state fully and clearly their measure of knowing the facts to which they testify.
              Very Respectfully
              ?

In the matter of Jennie Shamp Widow of Joseph S Shamp Co. G 16th O.V.I Claim No. 708 880
On this 15th day of February, A.D. 1900, personally appeared before me, a Notary Public in and for the aforesaid County, duly authorized to administer oaths, Henry B Shamp aged 49 years, a resident of Minneapolis in th County of Hennepin and State of Minnesota well known to me to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who being duly sworn, declares in relation to aforesaid case as follows: I am the brother of said Joseph S Shamp above named. I was present at the time of his death. He died on the 11th day of July 1883 in the City Hospital Fort Wayne, Indiana. I remember very distinctly the date and circumstances. Have remembered the date ever since. The attending physician was a Dr. Myers of Fort Wayne Indiana. I do not remember his first name. He was not present at the time of my brothers death. The only person present was a colored male nurse, I have forgotten his name. The matron of the hospital came in in a few minutes. I do not remember her name. The doctor Myres said the cause of death was Rheumatism of the Heart. I saw my brother the same day that he came home from the Army at Wooster, Ohio. He had Rheumatism then. He complained of it when we were home together for at least five years. Then he went to Michigan. I visited him there about 1875 for several weeks. I next saw him 1879 for about one month and did not see him again until 1883, Whenever I saw him he complained of Rheumatism. He had rheumatic pains in his chest. He would have spells when he was in great pain. He could hardly breath at such times. When he would get a little better he would feel sleepy. We were told by his physician that we must keep him awake and it was a hard matter to keep him from going to sleep. About the ? of April 1883 I visited him near Big Rapids Michigan. He had these same pains around his heart and the Doctor said he must be moved to a milder climate. He was sick in bed. When he was able to travel about June 1 1883 he came to my home in Fort Wayne Indiana. He lived with me for about two weeks and by reason of advice of Dr. Myres I took him to the City Hospital at Fort Wayne Indiana. He grew worse until he died. He complained of chest pains more and more the evening of July 10th 1883 he became unconsious and died about 6 o’clock a.m. July 11. I was with him all night. I went with the body and had it buried at Wooster, Ohio. His wife was not in Fort Wayne and did not go with me to Wooster, as she did not have the means to go. I paid all the expenses at the hospital, the Doctor bill and all expenses of his burial. His Post Office address is No 1914 Jackson Street N.E. Minneapolis Minnesota I further declare that I have no interest in said case and I am not concerned in its prosecution.

I was not able to go with him and his brother Henry B Shamp looked after him and took him to the City Hospital at Fort Wayne Ind. About the middle of June 1883 and died the 11th day of July 1883 My knowledge of his being in that hospital in Fort Wayne was obtained from Henry B Shamp. I was not at the hospital during his sickness or at the funeral on account of lack of money Henry B Shamp notified me of my husbands death by a telegram from Fort Wayne Ind. And stated he would take the body to Wooster Ohio for burial. My husband had rheumatism of the heart. He was examined by Doctor Paul Kearn of Big Rapids only a short time before going to the hospital the doctor stated he did not think he would ever do another days work. Dear Sir:
I return the call made upon by client Mrs. Jennie Shamp, widow of Joseph S Shamp Co G 16th OVI Claim No. 708,880 with the proofs enclosed
1st The claimant has made her own statement namely that - no one was ever legally bound for her or her children’s support also that she has not remarried etc. also the enclosed testimony of George Simpson confirms the same.
2nd The statement of Jennie Shamp shows the Post-Office address of Mary E Burger to be Wilerville Wayne Co. Ohio
3rd In the requirements of this part of the call. We offer the affidavits as supplemental to former affidavits of the same persons as follows: Mrs. Bert Artcliff, George Simpson, Henry B Shamp, Jesse M Shamp, George Williams, and claimants statement.
Page 36
There is absolutely no record proof so far as we can learn of the date and place of death of Joseph S Shamp. Said Dr. Myres referred to in former affidavits is old and has but his memory and has no record. He was attending physician, the colored nurse and matron of said hospital are not at Fort Wayne and no one seems to know where they are whether living or dead.
It seems that our proof ought to be conclusive,. There is the direct evidence of Henry B Shamp who was present at his death. Also, several who were present at his burial and who make positive statements. It does not seem that there should be in your minds any reasonable doubts of the date and place of death of said Joseph Shamp and we herewith submit our enclosed proofs hoping you will find them sufficient to clear up all points that were in doubt.
As attorney for the said Jennie Shamp and at her request I hereby ask you
Page 37
to adjudicate said claim under act of June 27th 1890, upon the proofs already submitted, reserving the right to furnish whatever proof lacking in the claim under the General Law at a later date.
So far we have not been able to find comrades that can give positive enough proof of the incurrence of rheumatism while in the service-we may find them later. With the foregoing statements I hereby submit the case to you
                                Respectfully Yours

Sirs
I am writing this letter to find out if it is true that I am entitled to some money at least I have been so informed. My mother, Mrs. Jennie Shamp, received a widows pension from the U.S. Government but never got anything in support of myself or my sister and I have been informed by a veteran of the civil war. That as she did not get any such thing that we (my sister and myself) are entitled to it. My father served in the 16th Ohio volunteer infantry and was severly wounded at what place I do not know. Any information will be fully appreciated.
                 Very truly yours
