BOUNTY LAND GRANTS IN SHASTA COUNTY, CA
ACT OF MARCH 3, 1855

By the Act of Congress March 3, 1855 all commissioned, non-commissioned officers, Chaplains, musicians, privates, wagon masters and teamsters of the regular Army, militia and volunteers, as well as all commissioned, non-commissioned officers, seamen, marines, clerks, landsmen of the Navy who had served in any war since 1790 were entitled to 160 acres of land. In the event of their death the widows or minor children were entitled to receive this land, as well as the officers, soldiers and widows of the Revolutionary War.
