The marriage certificate of Mary Ann Trenbath and Stephen Tonkin
clearly shows the name spelt as Trenbath, with her father as Ambrose Trenbath,
Husbandman (deceased)
1841 census for 1, Tram Road,
James Witts, 35, Copper Miner, In county
Mary Witts, 30, in county
Emma Witts, 16, works at the mine, in county
James Witts, 5, In county
Amelia Witts, 3, In county
Mary Penbath, 30, in county
Elizabeth Penbar, 6, born Cornwall
Ambroze Trenbath, 69, Husbandman, in county
Elizabeth Trenbath, 25, Charwoman, in county
Jane Trenbath, 20, Works at the Mine, in county
Given that Ambrose is not a common first name and for him to also be a
husbandman and living in Illogan, it seems pretty convincing that this is the
Ambrose who appears on the 1841 census with Mary Ann Penbath.
Found the following children listed for Ambrose and Mary:
MARY PENBAR, b. Abt. June 01, 1802; d. Abt. March 16, 1803.
MARY PENBAR, b. Abt. November 07, 1803.
ELIZABETH PENBAR, b. Abt. April 27, 1806.
WILLIAM PENBATH, b. April 25, 1809.
JENNIFER PENBATH, b. February 18, 1811.
JOHN PENBATH, b. September 15, 1812.
IMMANUEL PENBATH, b. Abt. June 18, 1814; d. Abt. March 26, 1842,
Nancekueke, Illogan, Cornwall, England.(In the Bawden transcript, burial is
listed as Emanuell Penbarth but seems fairly likely this is him)
AMBROSE PENBATH, b. Abt. July 13, 1816.
There was a burial for a Mary Penbath on November 1, 1827 in Nancekueke, age 56.
This would put her birth around 1771, which would coincide with Ambrose's
age on the 1841 census putting his birth around 1772.
I have found no birth information on Ambrose in 1772 and I found no further info. on Mary
