1826 - Baines 'Lancashire': George Trenbath, Tea Dealer, with house at 5 Great Ormond St. C.R. (Don't know what CR stands for). Marriage was by banns. Wit. James Ogden and Isabella Abbey.

1833 - Pigot: 246 Deansgate, Tea Dealer;

1836 - Pigot: 9 Booth St. Chorlton upon Medlock. Cotton Waste dealer.

Baptism of Frances Louisa - 'Of Barton, Porter Dealer'. Porter was a Victorian lager, and was referred to in The Barratts of Wimpole Street

1839 - In Parish Register at baptism of Thomas - 'Of Winton, Clerk.

1841 Census (HO107/580/9/ED 18) -

Booth St. Chorlton on Medlock, LAN:

George Trenbath, 45, Cotton Waste dealer, not born in county;

Hannah Trenbath, 35, Not born in county;

Eliza Trenbath, 15, born in county;

Elizabeth Trenbath, 14, born in county;

Louise, 11, born in county;

Frederick Trenbath, 7, born in county;

George Trenbath, 4, born in county;

Margaret Maloney, 15, Female servant, born in county.

1845 - Slater's Manchester and Salford Directory: Cotton and Waste dealer (Nicholls and Trenbath). House at 105 Upper Rumford St. C on M. (The same directory gives another George Trenbath, spindle maker, of 8 Clayton St., Rolleston St. I don't know where he fits in - the 1841 & 1851 census could be looked at).

1852 Whellans Directory - George Trenbath, Waste Dealer (Nicholls and Trenbath) house at 8 Northern Terrace, B. [Could B be Bury?].

He married Hannah COXON, m. 14 May 1823, in St Johns, Deansgate, Manchester,,4 b. ABOUT 1802, , Rolleston, STS, d. SEP 1859, , Melton Mowbray, LEI, buried: , Higher Broughton, CHS.

Hannah: 1851 Census for Great Clowes St, Broughton:

Hannah TRENBATH, widow, 49, Fundholder, b Rolleston, STS;

Elizabeth TRENBATH, dau, 24, at home, b Oldham

Louisa TRENBATH, 21, at home, b Manchester

Frederick TRENBATH, 17 Warehouseman, b Manchester;

George TRENBATH, 16, warehouseman, b Manchester;

Mary Latham, 23, House servant, b Manchester;

St Catherine's House 1/1859 gives the death of a Hannah TRENBATH at Melton Mowbray, Lei., so she probably went to live with her daughter, Elizabeth, after she married George Jonas Crossley at M Mowbray in 1859.

I cannot find any Crossleys (or Trenbaths) in the 1861 census for Melton Mowbray...

Ron MacIntyre says that an ancestor went to Eton. I can't find any Trenbaths in the Eton School lists, but the 1791 - 1850 list names Joseph COXON pp13B and 20B. He was a K.S. in the Upper School, fifth form at the 1793 election. He was 'in a public office', i.e. presumably later in life he was a government employee of some sort. 'His hand was amputated at Eton owing to the bursting of a gun.' K.S. means 'a Colleger' (presumably 'King's Scholar')
