Our Galloway Family
William Frazier Galloway Lavisa McClure
William Frazier Galloway was born 2 Jul 1802 (the Bible record of James M.
and Lizzie Belle Cook Galloway lists his birthdate as 20 Nov 1802)in North Carolina,
the son of John and Kizzia Galloway. William married 23 August 1824 Lavisa
McClure, who was born 7 Oct 1797, the daughter of John and Lillian (Reese?)
McClure (visit Our McClure Family
for more information). William Frazier Galloway and wife Levise were the first
white people to settle at the mouth of Hot House Creek on the banks of the Toccoa
River in the summer of 1822. The land was then a part of the cherokee nation
In 1830 they were in Rabun County. There are two articles on
the Galloway family in the "Facets of Fannin, A History of Fannin County" and it
is from these articles that some of the children for this family are taken.
William and Lavisa had these children (per articles & census records):
William Frazier died 29 October 1883 in Fannin County and Lavisa died
20 October 1878, both are buried in the Galloway Cemetery in Fannin County,
Georgia.
