Sarah Jane Osburn Langston - Daniel W. Osburn - Henry Osburn John Osburn - George F. Osburn - Sam Osburn - Andrew Osburn
Silas Coleman & Betsy Ann Pool Osburn
Silas Coleman Osburn, the son of Daniel S. and Mary or Mae Daws Osburn, was
born 17 November 1844 in Jackson County, Tennessee, and died 16 April 1944 in Riverton, Caldwell Parish, Louisiana. This birth date is taken from his death certificate, but if
the 1850 census was right he was born about 1846/1847. He married (1) Elizabeth Ann Pool Bet. 1868 - 1869 in Arkansas, daughter of William Pool and Mary Nutt. She was born 24 October 1848 in Greene County, Arkansas, and died 01 March 1930 in Grayson, Caldwell Parish, Louisiana. He married (2) Julia Alameda Pool Tyler 11 January 1932 in Columbia, Caldwell Parish, Louisiana, daughter of William Pool and Mary Nutt. She was born February 1856 in Webb City, Greene County, Arkansas, and died 01 September 1935 in Caldwell Parish, Louisiana. We are fortunate to have a copy of his and Julia marriage application and license. Julia was Elizabeth's sister and was first married to Rufus Benjamin Tyler, who had died between 1910 and 1917 possibly in Oklahoma. (The family was there in 1910 and son Douglas registed for the WWI draft while living with his mother in Oklahoma) Silas and Betsy are both buried in the Welcome All Cemetery in Grayson,
Caldwell Parish, Louisiana, Betsy has a marker and Silas had a military marker noting
his service with the Union during the Civil War, it was vandalized and replaced and
then vandalized again, so he has no marker. But we do have the bill for his
funeral service.
Silas and family seemed to like the Cleburne County area of Arkansas and on 4 October 1900 he was granted a land patent for 160 acres.

The men of the 145th came from Johnson, McLean, Morgan, Logan, Macon, Jackson, Cass and De Witt Counties. On January 9, 1865 he enrolled in Stoddard County, Missouri and was mustered into service February 1, 1865 at Cape Girardeau, as a Private of Company F, 50th Missouri Infantry and was honorably discharged as a Private August 5, 1865 at Benton Barracks, Missouri.
