  General notes:

Silversmith

  Events in his life were:

  • Previously considered New Haven's first native silversmith; now, according to John D. Kernan, this distinction goes to Isaac Doolittle. Primarily known as a clockmaker, Hotchkiss was also a blacksmith, and practiced dentistry. The inventory of his estate, taken by Isaac Doolittle and Samuel Bishop, Jr., Sept. 7, 1761, lists "spoon molds, 2 goldsmith's hammers. . . ", as well as watchmaker's tools, "Iron Partly worked," and "Instruments to draw teeth with." 3
  • He worked in 1748 as a silversmith, clockmaker, blacksmith, and dentist in New Haven CT with shop on south side of Elm Street. Later moved shop to Grove Street. 3

Hezekiah married Mary Wooding on 19 Jun 1754 in New Haven CT. (Mary Wooding was born on 20 Nov 1731 in New Haven CT.)

Hezekiah next married Sarah Bradley on 12 Dec 1751 in New Haven CT. (Sarah Bradley was born on 12 Mar 1729 in New Haven CT, christened on 11 May 1729 in New Haven CT and died on 3 Jul 1753 in New Haven CT.)
