This is tentative; he may have been the Chauncy D. Griswold who apprenticed and worked in Troy.

• He worked from 1840 to 1843 as a silversmith and jeweler in Orwell VT ⁶

• Master to Truman C. Phinney 1844-1849 in Orwell VT. ⁶

• He worked from 1843 to 1844 as a silversmith and jeweler in Castleton VT
This second store was apparently unsuccessful; on 8 August 1844 Lafayette Preston advertised that he had bought out Griswold's stock and trade and would continue the business. ⁶
