  Events in his life were:

• Married Elizabeth Sanford Jan. 19, 1737, according to Newport County Records. However, The U .S. Chronicle (Oct- 2 7, 1791) reported death of Hannah Gardiner, wife of James. Richardson's Scrapbook (Newport Historical Society) refers to him as a goldsmith, 1750, Newport Mercury (Jan. 1, 1776), carried his death notice at age 64. ³
