Silversmith

  Events in his life were:

  • Working as silversmith, but principally as watch- and clockmaker and bell founder 1772-90. Advertised, Hartford, Connecticut Courant Sept. 4, 1775, continued clockmaking and repairing watches "...shop north of Messrs Hudson & Goodwin's Printing Office." Apparently few ads referred to his work as a silversmith. One recorded, Dec. 5, 1780, "... gold necklaces, silver shoe and knee buckles, stone sleeve buttons ..."; other ads in 1784 and 1785 noted services as watchmaker. In brass foundry business in 1787; advertised in 1790, as Doolittle & Goodyear, bell founders, in shop on west side of Main St. This partnership was dissolved in 1791. Continued under his own name. Advertised for an apprentice Nov. 3, 1794. Retired in 1802. 3

Enos married Asenath Parsons, daughter of Sarah Abbe. (Asenath Parsons was born in 1760 in Enfield CT.)
