In 1829, he sold his shop to his former apprentice James Easton and went into partnership with his cousin Nathaniel Barney as whale oil merchants and candle makers. ⁶

Easton succeeded to his business c 1728.

William married Eunice Starbuck on 30 Oct 1822 in Nantucket MA. (Eunice Starbuck was born on 22 Dec 1799 in Nantucket MA, died on 1 Jan 1864 in Nantucket MA and was buried in Nantucket MA.)
