  Events in his life were:

• Apprenticed about 1850 to Johnson Arad Hardy in Bradford VT 1

• Saint Johnsbury VT, 27 Feb 1856: moved at the conclusion of his apprenticeship in 1856 to St. Johnsbury and opened a clock and watchmaking business. He advertised his wares and expertise as a watchmaker, as well as a silversmith and engraver, especially in the coffin plate line. In 1857, ill health forced him to close his shop and move to Haynesville AL., establishing a business there as had his uncle John. 13


Oliver married Mary Louisa Ladd on 5 Aug 1857 in Bradford VT. (Mary Louisa Ladd was born on 7 Oct 1836 in Freeport IL.)
