My Kincaid Ancestors came from Edinburg, Scotland in the 1700's. They settled in Chester County, Pennsylvania and later Augusta, Albermarle, Rockbridge and Bath Counties of Virginia. In the late 1700's they moved into Greenbrier, Boeutourt, and Monroe Counties, most ending up in what became Fayette, Raleigh, Summers, Lewis, Clay, Nicholas, Logan and other counties of West Virginia. If you can add additional info or have any photos that pertain to these ancestors, please e-mail me.
Below are Nichols Ancestor Reports. Some of these Ancestors came from Virginia into North Carolina and South Carolina. They moved into Bedford County, Tennessee and down into Franklin and Marion Counties of Alabama, some came as early as the 1830's. Some around the 1850's. Some of them left South Carolina coming down into Georgia for awhile before moving into Franklin and Marion Counties of Alabama. Many then spread into Mississippi and Texas and beyond. Many of the early settlers enlisted in the Civil War on the Union Side and their families moved up into Middle Tennessee, many of whom moved back to Alabama after the Civil War ended. Some died in Illinois where they travelled with over 500 Civil War families with the sick and injured.
