Old Escatawpa Cemetery

Old Escatawpa Cemetery
Escatawpa, Washington County, Alabama

Could anyone help? In Escatawpa, Alabama. Washington County. There is the Old Escatawpa Cemetery that is over grown with trees, bushes and weed. You have to go down a long dirt road to get to it. No longer can you walk in the Cemetery from the new Cemetery, which is across the street from the Escatawpa Baptist Church . The minister there now is Cliff Waddell . J. D. Davidson is familial with the Cemetery. There are hundreds of our ancestors buried in the old Escatawpa, we know they are there but no way to get to them. I can find, James Harry Waldrop, Minnie Lee Waldrop, Joseph Ryan Waldrop, James Monroe Baxter, Mary Ellen McILwain Baxter, J. L. Cooper, Nancy Baxter Cooper and J. W. Baxter and several children. These are near the fence by the dirt road. Problem the Cemetery is on a Doctor's land. He has let the Cemetery be covered up by trees, bushes and weeds. I called him and asked him if we could come and clean up the Cemetery and he told me....just to be sure we didn't get shot doing Deer season. I called and told his Aunt what he said and she was furious. Now does anyone know what can be done when a man knows that a Cemetery is on his land and he does not work with people to see that it can be taken care of? Does he have the legal right to sit back and see hundreds of ancestors being searched being covered up with trees, bushes and weeds. I waded through chin high weeds and bushes just to find the names above....
