10 Pound Baby Born
Roy McKee, manager and operator of the Yacolt Stage
line is flashing a broad grin and passing out the cigars these days.
All because June 25, he became the proud father of a 10 pound daughter. The
baby was born at the family home, 1013 West Eighteenth street. She has been
named Marjorie Louise. The young lady is the first child in the McKee
household and their many friends in Vancouver are extending congratulations
on its arrival. Sharing in the felicitations are Mr. and Mrs. George
McKee, the baby's paternal grandparents of Amboy and Mrs. McKee's parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Mathys of this city.
(This is the birth of Patricia McKee Bauer - the doctor ended up
delivering her and naming her Alice Patricia for her grandmother Alice
McKee. She is the great granddaughter of Thomas & Kate Soden)

Mary Therese Powers is the person who sent this information to me (JMontgomery). She
wrote:
"It appears from the Kenton County data that Thomas had one minor child
who needed guardianship after his and Hannah's deaths. Marabra Soden
Butts was born in NJ, as were the other Soden men in the area, but
Elnora Soden, who is in the Butts household in 1850 - age 28 - was born
in Tennessee. Didn't we see that pattern with the Thomas and Hannah
household: some kids born in Tennessee as they tried out the forge
there? I am not so sure that she has to be Thomas' sister. If the
time
frame is right Meriby/Marabra could be his oldest child, and Elnora the
youngest. There are no significant death records for that time period
in Kentucky, so I have no way of figuring out who Marabra Butts parents
were. From the birth record I sent, it seems as though she is Clinton
Butts' second wife. Since that name crops up in your family and is very
unusual, I have to think there is some close connection between the
families."
