Dec. 11th 1862
Dear wife
I am wel as common hoping these lines may find you enjoying the same blessing.
we had rough marching to get here throu the snow, frozen ground and in part of
the time the muddyest walking that you ever have seen. I dont think we wil stay
here long. I dont no where we wil go. a good many men left the army to knight
and others talks of leaving. I want to hear from you and the children verry
bad. Toung can not tel the love I have for you and them. I wil send you some
money in this letter if Mr. Jones wil take it. I want how the wheat come up.
Give my best respects to Mr. Wiett and all other friends. I hope they wil all
rite to me. direct your letter reidiesville cannon county Tennessee to 56 Ga.
