PETERSON | James Randolph Robertson, age 62, died December 19, 2003, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held Sunday, December 21, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Memory Chapel. Rev. Ralph Smith and Gary Youngblood officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens. Visitation is tonight from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memory Chapel Funeral Home directing.

He is preceded in death by his father, Joil Worth Robertson, mother, Edna Ruth Robertson O’Mary, and sister, Shelby Jean Hysaw.

Survivors include spouse, Betty Faye Robertson, daughter, Tina Phelps (Tim), Millport; sons, James R. Robertson, Jr. (Justina), Holt; Ricky D. Robertson (Stacie), Brookwood; sister, Shirley J. Hill, grandchildren, Craig, Brandon, Juston, Jeremy, Shane, Nicholas, Dylan, and Savanna, special niece, Debbie Hill.

Pallbearers will be James R. Robertson, Jr., Brandon Robertson, Jason Olmstead, Johnny Dyer, Ray Sellers, and Randall Harrison.

Records from The Northwestern 02 Sep 2003 obit for Dorothy Wesenberg Schwertfeger

Dorothy (Wesenberg) Schwertfeger died September 1 at Omro Care Center following a lingering illness. Born on June 5, 1915 in the Welsh Settlement, the oldest child of Otto and Elma Ruelke, she was christened Dorothy Ruth Ruelke.

By the time her sister, Alice, and brother, Charles, were born, the family had purchased the acreage on Highway 41 that became their family farm, now the site of the Prime Outlets Mall. An eager student, she started her education at the one-room Jackson School and graduated from South Park School and Oshkosh High School.

In 1935 she married Carl Wesenberg and moved to his family dairy farm on Knapp Street Road where, together, they raised their three children, Terry, Mary and Carla.

Dorothy loved to sew, and she used her skills as a seamstress to supplement the family income. She worked at Neubergers where she learned how to tailor clothing. Later she sold yard goods at the Boston Store (Johnson Hills) and became the buyer for that department.

After Carl’s unexpected death, she married Wesley Schwertfeger. Together they moved to a small lakefront house on Highway 45. When Wes became too ill to travel, she returned to retail sales at H.C. Prange in Fond du Lac and later at Jay Kay Fabrics.

Dorothy served as a docent at the Paine Art Center and the EAA museum. She spent her time sewing, knitting, taking “arts and crafts” classes, doing family history, writing verse for family events, reading, playing the piano and traveling.

Determined that her offspring would enlarge their horizons, she instilled in her children a love of travel by giving and sharing with them trips to faraway places in and out of the United States, including Hawaii, Europe and the middle-East. As long as her health held out, she accompanied each one of her grandchildren to Washington, D.C., believing it was important for them to learn about the capital of the United States.

Her children and grandchildren treasure the memories of those trips as well as those items that she created with her hands: tailored suits, coats, hats, purses, quilts, curtains, baby blankets, dolls, teddy bears, wool shirts, costumes and, of course, her beautiful, intricately patterned, hand made sweaters. Even though she never really liked to cook, she made the best scalloped potatoes in the world.

Dorothy is survived by her three children and their spouses: Terry and Anne Wesenberg, Mary and Jim Holland, Carla and Bruce Berrell; seven grandchildren: Lisa and Ted Wesenberg, Roxanne (Scott) O’Mary, Troy Holland and Alison Kienast, Hether (Eric) Stenson and Travis Berrell and seven great-grandchildren: Thomas, Justin and Ashley Pistohl, Dakota Kienast, Alexa, Drew and Isaac Stenson and Trevor Berrell all in the Oshkosh area, and nieces and nephews in Indiana and Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, sister, Alice Allen, and brother, 0. Charles Ruelke, and grandson, Andrew Wesenberg.

Funeral services for Dorothy will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2003, at 4:00 PM at the Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street. The Rev. Ralph DiBiasio-Synder will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral chapel from 2-4:00 PM. To commemorate her love of animals, memorial contributions will be donated to the Oshkosh Area Humane Society.

DETROIT, Ala. - Verta Earline Scott, 86, died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002. She was born Jan. 1, 1916, in Marion County, Ala., to the late John and Leevina Bowen Goodwin. She was a Baptist and attended New Center Point Freewill Baptist Church. She was a former employee of Longneckers and Glenn Enterprises. She enjoyed working in the garden, quilting and covering coat hangers. She married Willie Ray Scott Sr. on Oct. 19, 1935; he preceded her in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Otts Funeral Home Chapel in Sulligent, Ala., with Bro. Scott Forbus and Bro. Chris Barker officiating. Burial will be in the Pickle Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Willie Scott Jr. and his wife, Eloise, and J.C. Scott and his wife, Tolly, all of Greenwood Springs; a daughter, Martha Betts and her husband, Jesse, of Amory; nine grandchildren, Janie Scott, Danny Scott, Lisa Burt, Chad Cathcart, Faith Betts, Stevie Scott, Kathy Pipkins, Jerry Scott and Mandye McNeese; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pauline Coleman of Amory and Claudine Maxey of Hatley.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; four brothers, Leonard, Clarence, Mann and Huey Goodwin; a sister, Vera Lee Maxey; and three great-grandchildren, Cassie O'Mary, Jamie Pipkins and Cooper Scott.

Funeral services for Mrs. Marjorie Wall Watson, 87, of Dawson, were held Wednesday, April 10, 2002 at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Harvey Funeral Home, with Rev. James R. Emery officiating. Burial followed in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Watson died Monday, April 8, 2002 at Dawson Manor Nursing Home. Harvey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Watson was a native of Upson County, born April 22, 1915. She was the daughter of the late James Furman Trice and the late Sara Jeanie Smith Trice. She was the valedictorian of her graduating class at Robert E. Lee Institute, and a graduate of the University of Georgia with a B.S. Degree in Education. She was a resident of Dawson most of her life and was a retired school teacher with the terrell County School System. She taught 36 years in Sasser, Parrott and Dawson Schools. Mrs. Watson was a member of the Old Herod Chapter of the Daughters of the American revolution, a member of the Dawson United Methodist Church, the dawson United Methodist Women and the Epworth Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 33 years, William Ezekiel Wall and her second husband of eight years, Woodrow Watson and a daughter, Mary Jean Wall Fulford.

Survivors include her grandson, William Gardner (Cindy) Fulford, III of Mount Airy; great-grandson, William Ezekiel Fulford, of Mount Airy; son-in-law, William Gardner (Judy) Fulford, Jr. of Gadsden, Ala.; sister, Myrtle Sands of Winter Park, Fla.; step-son, Larry (Eleanor) Watson of Albany; two step-daughters, Joyce Starrak of Tifton and Gail and Keith O'Mary of Sasser.

Memorials may be made to the Dawson United Methodist Church or to a favorite charity.

Surviving are her sons, Franklin C. Tripp and his wife, Dee, of Ayden, and Wayne Tripp and his wife, Jackie, of Greenville; daughters, Norma Harris and her husband, Bud, of New Bern, and Marriana Mills and her husband, Ray of Greenville; brothers, James Heath, Wilbert Heath and Fate Heath, all of Greenville; sisters, Doris Harrell and Louise O’Mary, both of Greenville, Agnes Gates of Hobgood, Bessie Lloyd of Carboro and Annabelle Grogan of Durham; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. John Volpe's administration. Mr. Arena served as chairman of the Rockland Republican Town Committee for 30 years and was active in Republican politics in Plymouth County. He was a deputy sheriff in Plymouth County for 14 years. He was a disabled Coast Guard veteran of World War II. Mr. Arena was a member of the Rockland Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, Venezia Sons of Italy Lodge in Rockland and a charter member and past president of the Rockland Lions Club. He graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. Mr. Arena was born and raised in Rockland and was a lifelong resident. He is survived by his wife, Susan (O'Mary) Arena; a son, Lawrence H. Arena, a daughter, Rosemarie Arena-Williams, both of Rockland; two brothers, Roy Arena of Scituate and Joseph H. Arena of Rockland; and two sisters, Ann Howland of Scituate and Josephine Driscoll of Rockland. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Family Church. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Visiting is 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Magoun Funeral Home, 135 S.
