HELLO
Mama and Papa have a vast lineage which arrived long before the first 1790 census. The Coonfield families were in Henry, Kentucky for the 1800 census after migrating from PA. Alexander Cochran married Hannah Adams in PA and had William after serving in the American Revolution. Several children were born to this family and they soon migrated into the Oxford township of Guernsey County, Ohio and you will see very clearly that Alexander and William are the only two on that particular census. William married Martha Henderson who also had a very long interesting ancestry, and they had several children, including Jacob born in 1822. Joseph White lived nearby and Jacob married his daughter Mariah White and had six daughters. They moved to Iowa and one daughter had a child named Frank Cochran and he is listed on Jacob's census as a grandson, but we lose track of him there. Mariah died and Jacob married a widow Clora Jane Miller, who also had a large ancestry back to the 1700s Virginia history. Jacob and his brothers were adventurous and spent a while in California in the gold rush, before zinc mining in Iowa, and two even went into Canada and were never heard from again. Jacob served in the Ohio Infantry and then took the first homestead of Graham County, Kansas at Hill City. Clora Jane named a son Frank Delbert Cochran and he married Luella Coonfield in 1914 and my dad was born in 1927 and died 1996. Martha Henderson's mother was Nancy Ann Clendenning.
!Last name also spelled Clendennin
!Nancy Ann Clendennin: Guernsey County History: One cold winter's day the
indians, being hungry, came to the little home in Oxford Township. Not knowing
what she should do, she gave them an apron full of fresh baked bread. In a few
days a deer was left on the Porch. She was educated in Harrisburg, Dauphin Co., Pennsylvania, I assume she was probably born there.
She came to Guernsey Co., Ohio in 1806 with her husband and Children. She was the first Teacher in Guernsey Co., Ohio. Martha's dad was in the war of 1812...1850 United States Federal Census

There is one piece of paper when Berniece wrote her fathers name as Delbert Franklin, but she is in her 90s. She also advised that many of the birth certificates were messed up mainly because children were born at home during this time.

Military Name: Laverne B Coonfield Birth: 1925 Military: 5 Jan 1946 Residence: Arkansas, Benton, Arkansas It has been such a great joy to trace their many ancestors across our country and I am in Alabama as the daughter of Frankie Lavern Cochran, and the granddaughter of Luella Coonfield and her mom was Lattie Little. Jacob Cochran's siblings spread out into Colorado, Oregon, Washington and Arizona; my parents resided in Oklahoma where I was born, then Mesa, AZ where my brothers were born, but most of his siblings remained in Kansas. His sisters have shared many stories and research notes with me, and we have a great family history to be proud of.
