Families migrating across the south as the lands became available, long after
the Revolutionary War, into the War of 1812, and the Bounty Lands and Land and then the Civil War.
Lotteries. My mother's lineage came out of Virginia and Maryland and ventured across the south from the 1600s, including the Dotys from the Mayflower who intermarried with my line. My Dad's line went across the Midwest, while my husband's line had many settling into Tennessee around 1800.
