Obituary of

 Margaret Barbara Craig

(Wife of James M. Vaughn, Jr).

(May 8, 1858 to March 20, 1917)

. . .

Margaret Barbara Craig was born in Laurel County, Kentucky, May 8th, 1858, died March 20, 1917.  She professed faith in Christ in early life and joined the M.E. Church at Lynn Camp near her home in Laurel County.  Upon her coming to Williamsburg in September 1892, she took membership with the M. E. church here and lived a devoted member thereof till the day of her death.  She was married to J. M. Vaughn of Williamsburg, January 31, 1895 and to this union was born two children, Gladys and Bernice, who remain to mourn a mother's loss.  She is survived also by her devoted husband who with his sons by an earlier union are bowed together in deepest affliction.  Three sisters, Mrs. Eliza Farris, Mrs. S. E. Farris, and Mrs. J. H. Fuller and one brother, Mr. John Craig of Grays, KY, are joined with the sorrow-stricken ones in this bereavement.  Funeral services were conducted from the residence Wednesday, March 21, by Rev. W. S. Peters, Paster of the M. E. Chruch.  Interment followed in Highland cemetery with services at the grave in charge of Venus Chapter, 179, O. E. S. of which Mrs. Vaughn was a member.

Sister Vaughn's life was beautiful and in her passing to the other world she but enters upon a life of unfading beauty and loveliness.  The flowers she loved and tended here were as the smile of God's love and his smile is upon her forever.
