1911 Census Ireland

These records are freely available online at http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/

Use the left and right arrows to go back and forth across the rows.

Each entry will eventually be assigned a Family ID number, a Person ID no., and the person's Father's ID no.

You can read how this table was generated at the end of this page.

Here is how this table was generated:

1 Used Outwit Hub to search 1911 census for Spierin variants and scraped data by using Page, Data, Tables and copying output into Excel spreadsheet

2 Searches included:  Spear* 195,    Speer* 691,   Speir* 122,    Sper* 14,    Spier* 274,    Spir* 48

3 numbered rows 1-1462 in Column A (to allow order of rows to be returned to original after sorting)

4 copied & pasted Raw data into new worksheet, tidied data up to only include those obvious Spearin variants = Master worksheet

5 copied & pasted Master data into new worksheet, deleted non-essential rows & columns (C), moved URL (D) to end, and added extra columns for Family ID, Personal ID, Fathers ID, and Notes = Working worksheet

6 sorted data by County, then Townland Street, then Age (largest to smallest) so that family groups are easily identified

7 renumbered Column B (ID no.)

8 searched Raw for any possible Spearin deviants (transcription errors) based on locations - not completed yet

9 formatted table with banded rows in green - highlighted text and changed to black

10 turned off Filter function (icon looks like funnel, under Data) to remove dropdown arrows from each column

11 copied & pasted Working (B2 to Y96) into Google spreadsheet at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19AodU1mWNyx--7eo59mmAfckeUpEeUsOH1WCAx3r-VE/edit#gid=0

12 named it Ireland Census 1911 - named worksheet: Spearin variants

13 Justified all columns

14 on Google, clicked File, Publish to the Web, Embed, Publish ... and the following code comes up: <iframe src="https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19AodU1mWNyx--7eo59mmAfckeUpEeUsOH1WCAx3r-VE/pubhtml?widget=true&amp;headers=false"></iframe>

15 launched SSP editor and created new page for these records under the Records subdirectory

16 specified table dimensions as per html text to suit height & width (1 row = 22.06 pixels)
