Where & When ... Temporal & Geographic Distribution THE MANY FACES OF HARTWELL SPEARIN SPEARIN FAMILIES IDENTIFIED SO FAR TABLE 1 - Traditional Families table - those identified by traditional documentary research
The table below lists those Spearin families identified so far (using traditional documentary research). In time it is hoped that some of these will coalesce and the number will become less. Currently, approximately 230 distinct families (or family fragments) have been identified as a result of traditional paper-based research. Some of these will have died out (i.e. no living descendants), some will have "daughtered out" (i.e. there may be living descendants but all these are from the female line, and therefore no longer bear the name Spearin), and some will have living Spearin descendants (i.e. there is a direct male line of descent to a living individual).
