GENEALOGY
May
1968: I started the hobby of genealogy, motivated by a desire
to communicate to my deaf son, Gary Dale Speed.
I wanted to communicate to him as clearly as possible information about
his relatives and ancestors. A written
record and charts was the best and easiest way to explain.
2007: The
Speed Book that has been referred to in family history is a book that Blanche
Ormond Speed gave to Noble Desmond Speed and has been passed on to his male
heirs. The book is a rare
publication: "Records and Memorials
of The Speed Family” collected and prepared for publication by Thomas Speed in
1892. As of this date I have not been
able to trace my ancestors to any of the families in that book.
I have included all of the names in that book in the file titled John
Speed.
