Parcel Numbers Use.
Go to the following Roanoke VA Website, Click on County Tax List. Follow download instructions. Once first download is complete, go back to download page, click on Whip Commands and download for map tools. (Why it works like this I do not no, but well worth it all).
You can search by parcel number, owners and street names. Go to the map with your parcel number and view the lot and the surrounding area.
Since I am not computer literate, it took me 3 days to understand how it works. If you need help please email me.

The search for our roots can take us down some fascinating paths, and can provide great satisfaction. But there are times when the search can be very frustrating. The purpose of this site is to share the information we have collected; and perhaps, help you break through your own "brick wall". However, these pages contain family legend and hearsay as well as other possibly inaccurate information. Genealogy is NOT an exact science. Always verify.

Civil War-Confederate
Are you missing someone during 1861-1865? It was not just Military persons in the Federal Prisons and Military Hospitals in the North. The prisons and hospitals also had Confederate Citizens. I am curretly doing a transcription of Confederates who died at Camp Morton, IN, in which I have found an estimated 20 citizens from AR, GA, MO, VA, MS, AL and some with states not listed.
