Copies of pages 611 and 612 of "American Locomotive Engineers, Erie Railway Edition," by H.R. Romans, published in 1899 by the Crawford-Adsit Publishing Company of Chicago. My volume is missing these two pages which contain lists of engineers active in 1899. UPDATE: I have traded my volume for another and now have the missing pages. |

News reports on a late 1913 (occurred prior to Dec. 10, 1913) accident near Broadway, Ohio involving Cincinnati Division Engineer Joseph M. Dando. Engineer Dando reportedly perished in the accident. He may have been running engine 855, which was reported scrapped in January, 1914 at Galion, OH (he definitely was not running his "honor engine," #854, at the time of his death). Also, a "Joseph M. Damto" is listed in the Ohio Death Certificate Index as dying on December 4, 1913 in Marion County (Volume 1248, Certificate # 71030). Looking for details to add to his biography. UPDATE: I have located a report from the Marion Daily Star from December 5, 1913 which gave full details of the accident. The report has been transcribed and is part of his biography referenced above. |
